Ewald Kröner was a German artist and master weaver, born in 1926, renowned for his contribution to modern textile art. He was noted for his large-format abstract tapestries, in which he explored the relationship between texture, colour and space. His works are valued for their technical mastery, expressive intensity and innovative approach, which broke with the traditional boundaries of decorative tapestry. He was also a key figure in the revival of tapestry as an autonomous art form in Europe during the 20th century.
