Sonia Delaunay was a Ukrainian artist and designer, born as Sarah Stern in 1885. She first moved to Saint Petersburg and then to Paris, where she immersed herself in avant-garde movements such as Fauvism and Cubism. Together with her husband, Robert Delaunay, she developed Simultaneism, an artistic current based on the simultaneous contrast of colors and luminous abstraction. Throughout her life, she explored fields as diverse as painting, fashion design, books, and textiles. She was deeply influenced by Ukrainian tradition, which is reflected in her early works and patchwork techniques. Delaunay also opened boutiques in Paris and Madrid, applying her theories on color to everyday objects. A pioneer in the integration of art and design, she actively worked until her death in 1979 at the age of 94.
